This blog is a place for me to talk about golf and my life around this amazing sport.  Many people think that golf is “sport” where “athletes” (or guys) spend an afternoon together drinking beer, hanging out, and just doing guy stuff.  To me, golf is a way of life that provides great challenges in self-improvement.  What do I mean?

I consider golf to be a lifelong battle with myself.  It drives me to work harder to be better.  It reminds me that I can always be better.  It humbles me.  The more I put in, the more I get out.  I may win a battle every now and then, but it takes a lot more to win the war.  What I get out of it on the course, helps me off the course.  I struggle.  It’s a lifelong struggle.

What is this insanity I speak of?

The Shank & Bake Open is a 72-hole golf event that takes place in the middle of the summer and in the middle of the desert where temperatures will be “bake”-ing in excess of 100 degrees (but it’s a dry heat ).  We play 4 rounds across 4 different incredible courses in Mesquite, NV and St. George, UT spanning 2 or 3 days.

Here are the details of the 2009 Shank & Bake Open (July 10 – July 12):

Day 1 PM:  Wolf Creek Golf Club, Mesquite, NV

Day 2 AM:  Entrada at Snow Canyon Private Club, St. George, UT

Day 2 PM:  Coral Canyon Golf Club, St. George, UT

Day 3 AM:  Falcon Ridge Golf Club, Mesquite, NV

We have a group of people ready to play their hearts/minds out to become the 2009 Shank & Bake Champion!   Cash will be exchanged and bragging rights will be earned!
